THEY are too big and hang unwanted on sale racks, but savvy brides are turning discount wedding frocks into their dream dresses.
Rather than Solar lights order gowns in their own size, budget-conscious brides are hiring tailors to customise off-the-rack gowns at a pinch of the price.

Bride-to-be Sanly Tjhang purchased a size 12 gown last week which had been reduced from $2900 to just $600.
Ms Tjhang, who is a size eight, could see its potential despite cheap wedding dresses admitting it resembled “a loose towel” when she tried it on.
“The store was selling its summer Adidas shoes stock and I liked it but it was just too big,” she said.
“If I’d had one ordered in my size it would have cost thousands, ed hardy so I found a good tailor and all-up, the will have cost me just over $1000.”
Alteration specialist Joanna Lichi said she had taken in an unprecedented number of wedding and formal gowns of late.
“If you buy a dress off the rack chances coach purses are it won’t be the right size and you will have to have it altered to fit, so women are just buying them anyway,” she said.
Ms Lichi, who has been tailoring Nike dunkclothing for about 40 years, said the trend was just one of the signs that wallets were tightening.
“Actually you really get a feeling when times are good and times are going to be tough,” she said.
“I’m seeing good quality garments bought Wholesale lighting from charity shops or purchased years back coming in to be repaired and altered,” she said.
“You also notice that the new garments brought in, on the inside, the work done is not good.
“On the outside it’s all right, but you will see that louis vuitton brands that used to use interfacing, it doesn’t exist anymore where it used to be, or they are not overlocked inside.”
